Alpha Kappa Psi’s professional aspects give our brothers advantages not just in the classroom, but in the professional world as well. Today’s employers place great emphasis on skills such as teamwork, organization, public speaking and interpersonal communication. Chapter activities allow our members to sharpen skills that lead to success in the business world. Employers want students with proven leadership experience. Alpha Kappa Psi provides its brothers the opportunity to administer and demonstrate their leadership abilities.
Membership offers tremendous networking opportunities. As a brother, you will make numerous contacts with alumni brothers and business professionals. These contacts can assist you in receiving vocational guidance, obtaining employment, and securing more desirable positions.
Perhaps the most important benefit of Alpha Kappa Psi is the brotherhood and lifetime friendships that you will form. In almost every business class here at UTSA, there is an Alpha Kappa Psi brother. Our fraternity prides itself on our unity as a brotherhood. We are all business majors by chance, but are friends by choice. Alpha Kappa Psi gives you the opportunity to build your professional and social skills while making friendship that will last a lifetime.
What is the Purpose of the Pledge Instruction Program?
The purpose of the Pledge Instruction Program is to inform pledges on Alpha Kappa Psi, its history, its structure, its ideals and objectives, requirements for membership, and to develop and enhance the pledge’s professional abilities and interests.
What Are Some of the Pledge Class Activities?
The pledge period is modeled loosely after the structure and activities of the college chapter. The pledging period is nine weeks long. During this time, pledges become acclimated with their fellow pledge classmates and the brothers of the fraternity. It is the goal of the Xi Omicron chapter to build the bond of brotherhood from the beginning. As a pledge class, the following activities will be completed:
- Election of the following officers: President, vice president, secretary, treasurer.
- Conduction of fund-raising activities.
- Planning and conduction of at least one community service event.
- Planning and hosting of at least one social event for the chapter.
- Planning and implementation of at least one professional event for the chapter members and or fellow students of the college.
When Can I Rush?
At UTSA, the Xi Omicron chapter holds a formal recruitment at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. We hope to meet you soon!
